Sitagliptin

Indications
Monotherapy: as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus;
Combination therapy: type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control in combination with metformin or PPAR-γ agonists (e.g. thiazolidinedione) when diet and exercise in combination with monotherapy with these agents do not result in adequate glycaemic control.
Contraindications
Type 1 diabetes mellitus; diabetic ketoacidosis; pregnancy; period of lactation (breastfeeding); children and adolescents under 18 years of age; hypersensitivity to sitagliptin.
Usage
The recommended dose of Sitagliptin is 100 mg once a day.
If you have kidney problems, your doctor may prescribe lower doses (for example, 50 mg or even 25 mg).
Your doctor may prescribe Sitagliptin monotherapy or combine it with other sugar-lowering medicines. When taking Sitagliptin, it is important that you follow the the diet and exercise regime recommended by your doctor.
