Eltrombopag
ТаблеткиEltrombopag is a medication used to treat thrombocytopenia and severe aplastic anaemia.
Indications
The drug Eltrombopag is used to treat adults, adolescents and children aged 3 years and older.
- treatment of patients aged 3 years and older with a blood disorder in which the body's own immune system attacks and destroys blood platelets (immune thrombocytopenia) that has lasted 6 months or more from the time of diagnosis and in whom there has been insufficient improvement from previous treatment (e.g. corticosteroids or immunoglobulins) to reduce the risk of bleeding.
- Treatment of patients aged 18 years and older with viral liver inflammation (chronic viral hepatitis C) to enable antiviral treatment or to improve ongoing antiviral treatment including interferon drugs.
- treatment of patients aged 3 years and older with a condition where the bone marrow is capable of producing too few blood cells (severe aplastic anaemia) as part of the very first treatment attempt (first-line therapy) in conjunction with immune suppressive drugs (standard immunosuppressive therapy).
treatment of patients aged 18 years and older with severe aplastic anaemia who have not improved sufficiently with immune suppressive therapy (immunosuppressive therapy).
Contraindications
Do not take Eltrombopag if you (your child):
- Allergic to Eltrombopag or to any other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6 of the leaflet).
- if you have been diagnosed with a type of blood cancer in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature and are therefore unable to fulfil their functions (myelodysplastic syndrome - MDS) - due to a lack of efficacy and safety data.
- pregnancy or you are breastfeeding your child.
This dosage form is not intended for children under 3 years of age.
